Tiger Prawn Seeds
Tiger prawn seeds, also known as tiger prawn larvae or postlarvae, refer to the early life stages of tiger prawns (Penaeus monodon). Tiger prawns are a species of large, commercially valuable shrimp commonly farmed for food. Tiger prawns undergo a complex life cycle that includes several stages: egg, nauplius, zoea, mysis, and postlarvae. The postlarval stage is when the shrimp closely resemble miniature versions of adult tiger prawns and are ready to be stocked in ponds or grow-out systems for further development.
Prawn farmers often purchase tiger prawn seeds from specialized hatcheries or suppliers. These seeds are typically produced through controlled breeding processes in dedicated facilities. Hatcheries maintain broodstock (mature prawns) and carefully control environmental conditions to induce breeding and obtain high-quality larvae.
